Soy has been cultivated in China for more than 5,000 years; and, since then, it has
been consumed by populations worldwide. Today, there are many existing soy products.

Soy protein is high in biological content and nutritionally complete, while providing healthy benefits to the heart. In 1999, the FDA - Food and Drug Administration - approved a health claim explaining that the consumption of 25 grams of soy protein a day may help reduce cholesterol, thus associating it with a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) in Brazil came to accept this claim in 2005. Research has proven that soy protein reduces the total amount of cholesterol level and the LDL cholesterol - otherwise known as the "bad cholesterol" - and as a result, decreases the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Isoflavones are also found in soy. These are fenolic compounds with a structure similar to that of the female hormone estrogen, and are associated with anti-carcinogenic activities, decrease in the loss of bone mass, and reduction of blood cholesterol levels. Soy is also an excellent source of essential polyunsaturated fatty acids - omega-3 and omega-6 - that, in addition to the isoflavones, they are responsible for protecting the arteries, controlling cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and reducing the risk of heart attack, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, and strokes. They are vital, but because our organism cannot synthesize them, they must thus be obtained through sustenance.

Olvebra considers all its Soy Extract, also known as “soymilk”, as raw material. By undergoing a physical manufacturing process without the addition of chemical products, the fatty acids – omega-3 and omega-6 – are maintained as well as the fibers and the isoflavones. Through research and industrial testing, Olvebra has proven that the process of obtaining Soy Extract allows for the concentration of isoflavones, and this depends on the manufacturing conditions and on the temperature in which the material is treated.
